PROFESSIONAL LEGAL BACKGROUND: Specialized in civil litigation; tried in excess of 100 jury trials in all phases of civil law; represented both plaintiffs and defendants.

JUDICIAL BACKGROUND: 1993-1996, San Diego County Superior Court judge, heard both civil and criminal cases; spent two years as a direct calendar judge responsible for the handling of approximately 500 civil cases from filing to trial or settlement; assigned as coordination trial judge by Chief Justice in several matters involving litigation pending in different courts; June 1996, Appointed to Court of Appeal.

PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES/ASSOCIATIONS/AFFILIATIONS: 1995-1996, Elected to Superior Court Executive Committee; 1997-present, Court Profiles Advisory Committee Judicial Council of California; Master, Enright Chapter, American Inns of Court; served as judge pro tem San Diego Superior Court; Arbitrator San Diego Superior Court and American Arbitration Association; San Diego Volunteer Lawyer Program.

PROFESSIONAL TEACHING/EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES: Adjunct Professor of Law, University of San Diego, taught “Trial Techniques;” both as an attorney and as a judge, lectured and taught at numerous legal and judicial continuing education programs including Appellate Courts Institute, Rutter Group and CEB programs.

COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES: Member of Board of Trustees Gillispie School; Interviewer for applicants to Brown University.
