Advised operational departments (credit, personnel, real estate, finance, refining, lubricants, etc.), negotiated contracts and settlements, handled in-house litigation, supervised outside counsel, etc. Schwartz, Alschuler & Grossman (now Alschuler, Grossman & Pines), 1980-1981. Construction defect, banking and other business litigation. McCutchen, Black, Verleger & Shea (now Los Angeles office of Clevelands, Baker & Hostetler), 1975-1980. Business litigation involving oil, maritime, banking and high technology industries. United States Department of Interior, Fish and Wildlife Service, 1973-1975. Legislative analyst on environmental/natural resource issues. Prepared analyses for Congress of pending or proposed legislation affecting the responsibilities of Interior.

Appointed by Governor Wilson, confirmed by Justices Lucas and Klein, and Attorney General Lungren; Judge (1986-1995, appointed by Governor Deukmejian) and Commissioner (1982-1986, elected by sitting Superior Court judges and appointed by Judge Eagleson), Los Angeles Superior Court. Approx. seven years in law and motion and writs and receivers, approx. six years in trial departments, five in fast track; Supervising Judge of Law Departments, 1990. Member of executive committee, judicial education committee, alternative dispute resolution committee, multi-party construction defect committee. Consultant to BAJI-CALJIC committees 1986.
